Barbara Matheson - Person Centred Counsellor and Coach

Barbara is a qualified counsellor, holding a postgraduate diploma in person-centred counselling from the University of Strathclyde. She also holds a postgraduate diploma in training and learning which included a significant focus on coaching, and a certificate in stress management.

In addition to her private counselling and coaching practice, Barbara is a volunteer counsellor with the PF Counselling Service in Edinburgh and works with the Edinburgh Volunteer Centre to recruit, train and support the centre’s team of mentors.

Barbara began her career in sales and business development before moving into staff development. She was responsible for establishing and managing the training department for a large, specialist recruitment company following a career in operations management. In 1990, Barbara established her own training and consultancy business working with a wide range of clients from recruitment, higher education, the voluntary sector and small and medium-sized business (SMEs).

For 18 years Barbara was also a licensed trainer with the award-winning Springboard Women’s Development Programme working with over 3000 women to develop their skills and confidence.

Barbara retains her passion for helping women to fulfil their potential and established the first branch of the Women in Management Network in Scotland in 2007.

A member of British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists (BACP) and
The Association for Person-centred Therapy (Scotland) (PCT Scotland) Barbara works to the strict code of ethics set down by the BACP ethical framework. Barbara is a member of the Chartered Management Institute and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
